California Public Utilities Commission (CPUP) Public Meeting
The state agency responsible for setting energy policies – the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) -- is holding a public meeting in LA on September 12th. This provides an opportunity to share your opinions about how the state should reduce greenhouse gas emissions from buildings to meet state climate goals.
As you know, some regulators and legislators are advocating for a singular pathway to building decarbonization, called electrification. Electrification means converting all existing natural gas end uses in buildings to electricity, including space and water heating, cooking, and commercial equipment.
It is important for policymakers to hear from stakeholders that will be impacted by this policy. Please let me know you’re interested in making comments in support of a more inclusive, technology-neutral approach, which considers the environment, consumer choice, affordability and reliability. I hope you can, the commission needs to hear the opinions of your members.
