Día de los Muertos at SPARC
Join SPARC on Sunday, October 27th for our 17th annual Día de los Muertos celebration and ritual. SPARC partners with Professor Martha Ramirez-Oropeza and over 100 UCLA students every year to honor the memories of those who have passed on. Students will build intricate altars that represent Día de los Muertos traditions from various regions of Mexico and Central America. Professor Ramirez-Oropeza will lead an invocation ritual in Nahuatl, Spanish and English that calls the spirits to join the celebration. Be a part of our ceremony by bringing a photograph of a loved one for our community altar. There will be live performances, delicious Oaxacan food available throughout the evening, and two art exhibitions at SPARC for you to visit. This event is free and open to all!
