Makani Scar of the Sea Winemaker Dinner
Please join us on Thursday, November 15th at 8PM at Makani for a special evening of food and wine. We will welcome owner and winemaker Mikey Giugni of Scar of the Sea for a special dinner showcasing a selection of wines and cider paired alongside a menu created by Makani Executive Chef Kevin Lee. Dinner guests will have the opportunity to engage in conversation and learn firsthand about the project and his winemaking approach.
Michael Brughelli and Mikey Giugni met while Mikey was in his final years of college at Cal Poly. They became friends based on their shared interest and fascination with wine and the ocean. Scar of the Sea is producing and focusing on wines and ciders made from vineyards and orchards within the Central Coast of California. All are influenced by the sea, with maritime soils and climates. They produce wine and cider that express the terroir of the coastline they call home. The wines are meant to show vintage, nuance, elegance, depth, and charm and are made with minimal intervention.
This is the first dinner of the ongoing monthly producer series hosted by Makani Wine Director, Kyley Jacoby. These dinners came from a deep passion for wines produced in the states, the vineyards and the individuals who farm them.
