My Voice Matters
A Community Workshop About Alcohol Licenses in Venice
Concerned new restaurants, bars or liquor stores might compromise quality of life in your neighborhood? Are there nuisance alcohol BUSINESSES near where you live? Learn what you can do about it. It’s your community. You can have a voice!
WHAT: My Voice Matters is a FREE workshop for Venice residents to discuss how they can engage in all important aspects of the alcohol licensing process. Topics will include:
- How to protest licenses at a state and local level
- How to limit alcohol-outlet overconcentration
- How to request conditions be placed on alcohol businesses’ operations
- How to encourage the enforcement of alcohol outlets’ conditions
- How to hold problem outlets accountable for bad BUSINESS practices
My Voice Matters will be facilitated by the Institute for Public Strategies. Claudia Martin, Neighborhood Prosecutor for the Pacific Division, will also be on hand to answer questions. The evening will encourage an open dialogue with participants to discuss questions and concerns. All attendees will receive a My Voice Matters toolkit intended to serve as a useful community reference guide for engaging in the alcohol licensing process.
