Venice Arts Drop in Story Lab: This is How I See It
Come by Venice Arts Sunday November 2nd, from 1-4pm for another exciting adult Drop in Media Storytelling Workshop! This year long series is part of the Community Story Lab, a new program for adults that mirrors the depth of learning and arts engagement in our programs for youth! The Drop in Labs are free for low income adults.
Led by media artists Michelle Glass, Andrea Dominguez & Paige Tighe, each month will present a new theme and approach to media-based story telling. The theme for November's Drop In Lab is:
This is How I See It:
The personal is political. Political dramas don’t only happen on TV, they affect us overtly and covertly. Influencing the small and big decisions we make individually and as a culture. In this project, students will explore political topics/subjects that are often avoided or trivialized.
Students will create a work of art inspired by their topic/subject matter and write a short narrative as to why they altered, or represented their work they did. Students will sit in a sharing circle and discuss their works with one another, sharing how they hope their view will assist in moving forward to a new perspective.
Please email Meg at meg@venice-arts.org if you are interested in learning more or visit http://venicearts.org/
The Community Story Lab is supported by a grant from The James Irvine Foundation.
