Venice Arts Drop in Story Lab: What You Think You Need
Come by Venice Arts Sunday September 7th, from 1-4pm for another exciting adult Drop in Media Storytelling Workshop! This year long series is part of the Community Story Lab, a new program for adults that mirrors the depth of learning and arts engagement in our programs for youth! The Drop in Labs are free for low income adults.
Led by media artists Michelle Glass, Andrea Dominguez & Paige Tighe, each month will present a new theme and approach to media-based story telling. The theme for September's Drop In Lab is:
What You Think You Need: We often look outwards for validation of what we feel inside. We are barraged by a culture that consistently tells us we are incomplete, needing something, missing something. In this project, students will create “Lost” or “Missing” flyers that represent real, perceived or embellished upon physical or internal attributes. Students will use found or personally shot photos to incorporate into their flyers. The flyers will be printed in multiples and distributed into the community. Each student will create an alias email address and will set up accounts to receive replies from the community. They can then later share the responses online.
Please email Meg at meg@venice-arts.org if you are interested in learning more or visit http://venicearts.org/
The Community Story Lab is supported by a grant from The James Irvine Foundation.
