Venice Family Clinic
Established in 1970, the mission of Venice Family Clinic (VFC) is to provide quality primary health care to people in need. At a time when thousands of low-income and uninsured people were going without medical care due to a lack of affordable local options, our founder, Dr. Philip Rossman, and co-founder, Dr. Mayer Davidson, asked community members how they could help. This question led to the launch of VFC, operating at first within borrowed space after normal business hours. In the years since, VFC has evolved into so much more than a provider of basic medical treatment as we have grown to become a Federally Qualified Health Center with 12 locations. VFC is now the main source of affordable, comprehensive wellness services for more than 26,000 low-income children and adults who live on Los Angeles' Westside and beyond.
With input from generations of patients, staff, volunteers, partners and community members, VFC has expanded upon the original model of a free clinic into a system of care that transcends traditional political and financial limitations. There has always been a steady drive within each of us at VFC to do more, to throw open the doors closed by poverty, language barriers and racism, and to imagine how we can work together to improve the present and prepare for a better tomorrow. These guiding tenets have led VFC to develop many programs promoting holistic well-being and which allow us to meet our key goal to help our patients not only get well, but stay well. In addition to primary medical care, we offer dental and vision care, mental health and substance us
