March 18, 2019

This March, the Poetry Coalition is presenting national programming on the subject of Poetry & Democracy. As part of that programming, Beyond Baroque is offering a three-week poetry workshop for unhoused youth. The workshop, taught by Brian Sonia-Wallace, and organized in partnership with Safe Space for Youth (S.P.Y.) encourages some some of Venice's most vulnerable community members to make their voices heard within our democracy. The workshop will culminate in a March 23 reading by participants and local poets at Beyond Baroque during a spring party celebrating the Beyond Baroque/S.P.Y. community garden. This community garden, located on the grounds of Venice's former city hall, provides unhoused youth with internship and job-training opportunities. Read more about the Poetry Coalition.
