Greetings Angelenos!
I am pleased to announce that the City Planning Department has received two Neighborhood Council Civic Engagement Los Angeles (NCCELA) Vanguard Awards, recognizing the Department for its success in community outreach and engagement.
The first award was presented to the Department for its Community Liaison Program, which was established in 2018 to educate and keep neighborhood councils informed about the latest news and information on planning. The second award was given to City Planner Kinikia Gardner for her close collaboration with the Mar Vista Neighborhood Council to foster local input for the community plan updates that are underway on the Westside.
We are proud to have been among the 2018 recipients of the NCCELA awards. Community engagement is a core function of our work, which is why we are investing more resources to help with outreach and encourage on-going engagement in our communities. We have made noticeable strides in the last few years, and will continue to through our local partnerships with community based organizations, neighborhood councils, small business owners, and other neighborhood stakeholders.
Together, we are Planning for LA.
