Safe Place for Youth Innovations 2 Program Launch
October 17, 2018
This is an exciting time at SPY! SPY was awarded the Department of Mental Health’s Innovations 2 grant to create a sustainable, trauma-resilient community that better serves the needs of youth experiencing or at risk of experiencing trauma.
As part of this project, SPY will create the Venice Youth Network, a convening of young people, service providers, and community partners, that together will promote youth social connectedness, provide health and wellness services, and create housing and job opportunities for youth. We’ll also create paid positions for young people that will help us ramp up our outreach efforts and make services more youth-centric, allowing us to connect with more youth and link them to services. SPYsocial, a social media network to promote youth social connectedness, Saturday Drop-In days, and a few new team members are also on the horizon! Already, we have on-boarded our fantastic Director of Innovations, Nicole Wainwright, to guide this transformative project.
SPY’s work under Innovations 2 will ultimately serve to reduce trauma, improve health and wellness, better connect youth to the larger community, and support overall community wellbeing.
