Dear Friends,

Today marks the launch of Safe Place for Youth's new Community Garden! Located on Venice Blvd near Abbot Kinney Blvd, and blocks away from our Drop-In Center, this garden will give homeless youth opportunities for employment and workforce development, and provide produce to those in our community who need it the most.
An expansion of SPY's Food for the Soul program onsite at our Drop-In Center, the new Community Garden will also be designed to show youth experiencing homelessness principles of building community and food security; promote improved physical and mental health, and provide meaningful work opportunities that will prepare them for success in the fields of urban farming, gardening and landscaping.

Special thanks to our partners at Kiss the Ground for allowing SPY to build upon the foundation that you have created at this special place in Venice, and to Supervisor Sheila Kuehl for generously supporting this program expansion!

Also, make sure to mark your calendar to join us at our official Community Garden Launch on Saturday, November 3rd! Event details here.
