Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams Visits Phoenix House!

Last week, Phoenix House was proud to host Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams at one of our treatment centers in Arlington, Virginia. General Adams attended a roundtable with Executive Director and Vice President of Phoenix House Mid-Atlantic, Deborah Taylor, and Clinical Director, George Knoerlein, among other leaders.

America is facing its deadliest drug crisis ever. Fueled by opioid abuse, drug overdoses have become the leading cause of death for people under 50. The need for affordable and effective addiction treatment has never been greater.

As a leading nonprofit with five decades of clinical expertise, Phoenix House has been on the front lines of many drug epidemics. We welcome the opportunity to advise the Trump Administration on the importance of evidence-based treatment and access to affordable treatment.

General Adams took time to tour the renovated facility, which includes a gym designed to help patients improve their physical health while in treatment. Gen. Adams also spoke to patients about his personal mission to combat stigma in seeking treatment.
