About the Westminster TLC
The Westminster TLC is a bridge housing shelter for single parents and their children. The shelter offers homeless families a safe, nurturing environment while they transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

The TLC is an eight unit apartment where single parents can stay with up to three children. Single parents share a bedroom with their children and share a kitchen, bath, and living room with one or two other families. Families are provided short-term housing as a temporary bridge to a permanent housing solution.

The Westminster TLC was formed and is operated as a joint venture between Venice Community Housing and Housing Options for People to Excel (HOPE). The program opened in 1993 and has served over 200 families. In 2017, the Westminster TLC served 24 families.

A TLC Success Story
Tina* lost her housing while expecting her first child due to family issues. While pregnant she was able to stay at a local crisis shelter for pregnant mothers. Once she was no longer able to stay there, she was referred by that agency to the Westminster TLC, where she moved with her 3 month old son.
While at the TLC, Tina closely followed the program and worked with the staff to update her resume, eventually finding full-time employment as an office assistant. Though now working full-time and starting to save, Tina had concerns about the financial responsibilities of being on her own and affording fair market rent. After about 12 months of living at the Westminster TLC, Tina found a one bedroom that fit within her budget. We are happy to report that Tina and her son have been successfully living on their own for six months in permanent housing.

Westminster TLC's Current Needs
Though the Westminster TLC program participants come to our monthly "Shop Days", the program could use some help with getting the following:

- Birthday cards
- Grocery store gift cards (Ralph's is the closest grocery store to the property)
- Hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and soap/body wash
- Feminine hygiene products
- Laundry detergent
